Corporate Social Responsibility

At Alex Day’s practice, we strive to deliver excellence in healthcare and unite science and technology to deliver life-changing results for patients. The practice delivers this purpose whilst considering the social and ethical impacts across everything it does.

Communities

The practice is proud to partner with The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, an organisation which offers independence and freedom for people living with sight loss. Where eye surgery is not possible, a guide dog can offer something that science and technology cannot, and the clinic supports their guide dog training programmes in the community.

Research practices

Mr Day’s clinical research leverages his scientific expertise to improve the quality of life for patients by researching treatments and surgical techniques for complex conditions, striving to advance surgical practices, and strengthening the NHS. Alex Day holds a PhD and is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. All of Mr Day’s research is independently governed by the Health Research Authority’s Research Ethics Service and Research Ethics Committees.

Environmental

As a medical practice working with international pharmaceutical suppliers, we recognise our responsibility to help protect the planet. The practice is committed to making a positive impact by exclusively purchasing from suppliers who have a focus on ethical value chains and environmental sustainability strategies including Johnson & Johnson and Alcon.

Patient safety

Patient safety is a fundamental concern for any medical professional. Mr Day’s practice has extensive controls in place designed to detect, evaluate, and communicate risks and any potential safety concerns in all procedures. In 2023, Alex Day was appointed the Chair of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist’s Cataract Surgery Standards Group where he advises on the standards and procedures for cataract surgery in the UK.

Diversity

The clinic’s work supports the health of all kinds of people and all patients are all treated equally. The practice recognises the value of its people and promotes a diverse and inclusive workforce that recognises achievement and respects employee’s and worker’s rights.
