Mr Alex Day Warns Against Eye Colour Changing Surgery

Recently there has been a growing trend of individuals considering cosmetic eye colour-changing procedures. These procedures can lead to severe complications including permanent vision loss, are not CE marked or FDA approved, and should absolutely be avoided.

The Risks Involved

According to Mr Day, eye colour-changing surgery poses grave risks. “One of the primary concerns with eye colour-changing surgery is the potential for serious eye complications. With iris implants these may include glaucoma, cataracts, inflammation, infection, and even permanent vision loss” he says. “Furthermore, the long-term effects of implanting foreign materials into the delicate structures of the eye are still not fully understood.”

In the procedure, a synthetic iris implant is inserted into the eye to change its colour. However, the process carries significant risks, as the delicate nature of the eye makes it very susceptible to complications. Laser iris depigmentation is a non-implant technique to change eye colour and, again, is absolutely not recommended due to safety concerns.

A Strong Message

"Undergoing eye colour-changing surgery is an incredibly bad idea," Mr Day asserts. "The risks far outweigh any potential cosmetic benefits. It's imperative for individuals to understand the grave dangers associated with this procedure and to refrain from pursuing it."

Embracing Enhanced Advertising Monitoring

Mr Day welcomes the enhanced advertising monitoring from the ASA imposed on clinics abroad, emphasising the importance of transparency and informed decision-making when it comes to elective procedures.

With his extensive experience and commitment to patient care, Mr Alex Day ultimately advises caution in the realm of eye health. His message is clear - prioritise safety over aesthetics and seek professional guidance before undergoing any elective eye surgery.
